Oaks Christian Runs Away With Early Lead in Victory
Agoura Varsity Chargers fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 15-2 loss to Oaks Christian on Friday. Oaks Christian scored on a single by T Farmer in the first inning, a single by J Onaca in the first inning, a double by C Sheffer in the second inning, a single by C Tompoya in the second inning, and a fielder’s choice by F Buckner in the second inning.
The Agoura Varsity Chargers struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Oaks Christian, giving up 15 runs.
Agoura Varsity Chargers evened things up at two in the bottom of the first inning. Braden Feliciano drove in one when Feliciano singled.
Oaks Christian pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Sheffer doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, Tompoya singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, and Gavin Trafficanda induced Buckner to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Oaks Christian scored seven runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught by Oaks Christian was led by Q Young, Jack Laubacher, and Tompoya, all driving in runs in the frame.
T Hanley was credited with the victory for Oaks Christian. The bulldog lasted four innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out two and walking one. C Arroyo and S Ajemian entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Trafficanda took the loss for Agoura Varsity Chargers. Trafficanda lasted two innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out one.
Will Michelman went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Agoura Varsity Chargers in hits.
Oaks Christian racked up 14 hits in the game. Young, Tompoya, and Sheffer all managed multiple hits for Oaks Christian. Young led Oaks Christian with three hits in four at bats. Oaks Christian didn’t commit a single error in the field. Sheffer had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
